Interthreading Shawl & Scarf

A gently textured slip-stitch design; a simple, repetitive stitch pattern; and a thick and cozy fabric. Within this pattern, you'll find two designs comprised of the same comforting texture - a large, cozy shawl and a quick, neckerchief-sized scarf. I hope you'll enjoy wrapping yourself in the Interthreading Shawl & Scarf.

YARN

The Interthreading Shawl & Scarf are designed to work for a single strand of DK, a single strand of worsted, or 2 strands of fingering weight yarn held together. This pattern was designed in collaboration with Zeezee Textiles as part of the Winter Gardens countdown box. I also knit additional samples to demonstrate how this design works in different styles. On the following page, there are photos of each sample accompanied by information about the yarn used. Feel free to use different methods for colorplay in your shawls and scarves. These designs are perfect for mini skeins, countdowns, advents, leftover yarns, fade kits, single skeins, and more. It can be worked in a single color or with stripes, fades, marling, color-blocking, etc. The possibilities are endless! I hope you'll have fun creating your shawls and scarves!

YARDAGE

Below are the exact yardages I used for my samples. I recommend having some additional yarn to accommodate any differences in gauge, yarn used, etc. However, if you find yourself to be a little short on yarn or maybe have some extra yarn you'd like to use, you can knit more/less pattern repeats to make your shawl bigger/smaller than the samples. This pattern is very easy to customize!

INTERTHREADING SHAWL:

A single strand of DK weight: 915 yds/837 m

A single strand of worsted weight: 718 yds/657 m

2 strands of fingering weight: 1436 yds/1313 m (total yardage including both strands)

INTERTHREADING SCARF:

A single strand of DK weight: 150 yds/137 m

A single strand of worsted weight: 153 yds/140 m

2 strands of fingering weight: 305 yds/279 m (total yardage including both strands)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Because of the difference in gauge between DK weight yarns and worsted/2 strands of fingering weight yarns, the finished measurements vary depending on which yarn/gauge you choose. The instructions for the scarf are the same for both yarn weights. However, the shawl instructions vary for each yarn weight. The DK weight shawl is a little larger in size than the worsted/2 strands of fingering weight shawl to accomodate the decrease in yardage that occurs by holding 2 strands of fingering weight yarn together. However, if you'd like to knit a larger or smaller shawl or scarf in either of the yarn weights, feel free to simply work more or less of the pattern repeats to get the shawl/scarf size you would like.
